If you’re going through all the work to create a recipe video I highly recommend you use it as many places as possible

It’s a little annoying that all these different platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and even your own blog require different sizes. However, it’s not that hard to resize your footage and I’m going to show you how I do it.

When I’m editing a recipe video I will do my full edit in a 16:9 format because that’s what I put on my blog. Make sure you’ve completed the video with color correction, titles, etc.

Once the video is done, you can click and drag to highlight the whole sequence, then press COMMAND + C to copy.

I already have a sequence set up in a square format, but if you needed to create one you could easily go to File —> New —> Sequence. Choose ARRI in the frame rate you recorded in, give it a name, and then go to Sequence —> Sequence Settings and change the size to 1080 x 1080.

If you haven’t already read our post about setting up a template project, this will help save you time because won’t need to create a new sequence every time.

In your square timeline, press the up arrow to make sure your playhead is at the beginning, then press COMMAND + V to paste the video into the sequence.

From here you can go into the effects panel and adjust any individual clips as needed to make sure they’re centered in the square.

If you wanted to turn this into a tall video pin, you can click on the sequence title in the Project Panel, then go to Edit —> Duplicate. Rename it, then go into Sequence —> Sequence Settings to set the size to your preference. I like 1080 x 2160 for video pins.

You can then adjust the footage in the Effects Panel as previously mentioned. For more information on video pins, please read our post on how to create video pins.
